Did you know your app is a progressive web app? One of the bonuses of progressive web apps is your users can install the app on their home screen. Progressive web apps (PWAs) can be managed from the "Apps" menu. Downloading an app as a PWA grants a variety of benefits, from better offline functionality to enhanced native device features.
Configuring the PWA setting for your app
In order to use PWAs, you need to configure your app to include the following:
- An app name
- Splash screen name
- An icon that is 512x512 pixels
All of these settings can be found by going to "Apps" → Find the app you want and click on "Manage" → Then you will be on the app's Summary tab where you can find these settings.
How to install a PWA
Start by opening the app URL on the device you want to install it on.
The URL can be found by going to the "Apps" menu and clicking the manage button on the app you want to download.
Android
For Android devices, when you open the web app URL, you will see a prompt appear at the bottom of the screen to add the app to your home screen.
Simply click "Add", and the PWA will be added to your home screen.
iOS
For iOS devices you will not get a prompt, instead you will need to use the menu in the browser to click the "Add to Home Screen" button, and then select "Add". Note, make sure you are opening the URL through safari for this to work.
