The Apps menu is used to manage, create and delete apps. Apps allow you to create consolidated views of forms that can be accessed by anyone or a restricted set of users.

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Create an App

Accounts are created with a single app, this allows you to get up and running quickly, allowing you to start creating forms immediately.

You can add a new app by clicking the + 'Plus' button on the bottom right of the page.

App name: The name of your app

App Subdomain: This is a customisable section of the domain that will identify the app. This must be unique and can be changed on the Developer Tools tab under the App URL section.

App Type: There are two types of apps:

  • Forms List: With a side menu and featuring a searchable list of forms this type of app is great for those that have a single list of forms they want to present to the user and expect forms to be accessed on a desktop.
  • Tiles: Tiles apps remove the side menu and instead replace them with screen tiles. Tiles apps can also include containers of forms allowing for a next level of navigation and is great for apps expected to be used on mobile and tablets.

Builder

The Builder tab allows you to customise the content, menus and style of your app.

The app name can be changed from any of the labs by hovering over and clicking on the app name at the top of the screen.

Menu Items

  • Forms List (Forms List App Only): The forms list is a searchable list of forms, this is the default home page for any forms list apps and is not available in a tiles app.
  • Jobs: Jobs can be added to the app and assigned to a specific user, this requires the use of the OneBlink Jobs API and requires an existing backend system to generate the jobs.
  • Pending Submissions: Any submissions completed while offline will be stored in the pending queue, once the user is back online the submissions will be automatically sent from the pending queue.
  • Drafts: If a user is logged in they will be able to save a form as a draft allowing them to sync it to another device and/or complete the form later.
  • Profile: The profile screen allows the user to login or sign up to the app.

Add a menu item

  • Custom Link: In addition to the out-of-the-box menu items you can also create a menu item that can be used to link out to any URL.

Settings

Apps have many settings that can be configured to help improve the experience for yourself and your app users.

Standard Settings

Give your app a description to help others understand the purpose of your app.

Progressive Web App Settings

Apps created on the OneBlink LcS are Progressive Web Apps (PWA) meaning they can be downloaded onto the home screen of any device and function the same as any other app. For more information, check out thiarticle.

  • App Name — This is the name that will appear below the app icon on the device.
  • Splash Screen Name — This is the text that will appear when the app is first loaded on the device.
  • App Icon — The icon for the application, must be a PNG and at least 512 × 512 pixels in size

Notifications

If an issue occurs with a submission on this app, the notification email address will be notified of the issue. The email address is prepopulated with the Team Member who created the app, but any email address can be added as a Notification email address. The Notification email address is required and will need to have at least 1 email address to Save the app.

Email Sending

Email Sending addresses allow you to change the sending email address for any out-of-the-box emails that are sent using your app. For example, Email + PDF workflow events can be sent from your email ([email protected]) instead of the default OneBlink email address ([email protected]).

When configuring an email address, a verification email will be sent to the configured email address. You will need to access the email inbox, open the verification email and click the link. These links last 24 hours, if the link has expired you can resend the verification email. Once the link has been clicked, thereby verifying the email address, any new emails sent from the app will be sent using your new sending email address.

Shared drafts

Often, users of an app will need to collaborate on drafts. To allow users to share drafts, turn on the share drafts between users switch. Turning on this configuration will ensure that all drafts saved on the app are shared with all other app users. Forms users will be warned when saving a draft, notifying them that it will be shared with all other app users.
